Test Information
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by Marshfield Labs. This laboratory is certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) to perform high complexity testing.
 
This test is a screen for ethanol in urine by immunoassay; if the screen is positive, this test automatically includes GC confirmation for ethanol. Quantitation/confirmation charged separately if needed.  It is intended for use only in patients where an initial drug screening test has not already been performed (i.e. Point-of-Care drug screening cup, dipstick, etc.). 
 
Ethanol is found in alcoholic beverages as well as common household items such as after-shaves, colognes, perfumes, mouthwashes and medications. 
 
This test is not to be used for legal purposes.​

Interpretation

Current Cutoff Levels for Toxicology

Quantitation in urine does not correlate well with legal blood alcohol levels or degree of intoxication.  Results should not be used for employment or legal purposes.

Results less than 0.010 g/100 mL are considered negative. ​
