Test Information
Positives are not confirmed by an alternate method. This rapid urine drug screen should be ordered only when a rapid result is required to make decisions affecting patient care. In all other cases, order "Drug Screen, Comprehensive". The remaining specimen will be stored in the laboratory for one week. The physician can order a "Drug Screen, Comprehensive" on the specimen by calling Specimen Processing (ext. 16220) or Clinical Microscopic (ext. 16357).

Drug classes giving a “Positive” result can be confirmed by ordering the drug class confirmation tests separately, if desired.  Note:  TCAs, Propoxyphene and PCP are not confirmed in-house, but are sent to Mayo Medical Laboratories for confirmation.
