Useful For
Useful For
Angiotensin Converting Enzyme is useful for monitoring patients on antihypertensive ACE inhibitor drugs (lowers ACE levels) or to monitor severity of Sarcoidosis (increased levels). Ace levels are also elevated in Gaucher disease, leprosy, untreated hypertension, psoriasis, amyloidosis, histoplasmosis, liver diease and diabetes. ACE testing may be ordered at regular intervals to monitor the course of the disease and the effectiveness of corticosteroid (prednisone) treatment.
