22309 Anti-DNA By Crithidia

Anti-DNA By Crithidia
Test Code: NDNA
Synonyms/Keywords
nDNA (Double stranded) Antibody, NDNA, Anti-native DNA Antibody
Useful For
The Crithidia luciliae nDNA test, detects autoantibodies to nDNA antigens. High titers of anti-DNA, a type of anti-nuclear antibody (ANA), are associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Titers of DNA autoantibodies may decrease with successful therapy, and increase in acute recurrence of the disease. DNA-anti-DNA immune complexes play a role in the pathogenesis of SLE through the deposit of the complexes in the kidney and other tissues. For this reason the detection and quantitation of DNA autoantibodies is diagnostically and therapeutically helpful in patients suspected, or known to have SLE.
