Collection Processing Instructions
A dedicated tube is preferred although removal of small whole blood volumes for a hemogram is acceptable.   Heparin (Green Top Tube) samples are acceptable, but not preferred because of clotting problems.  Frozen specimens are acceptable but not preferred.
Please fill out and submit "Blood Lead Reporting Form". This is REQUIRED by the State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services.

Based on the 97.5th percentile of the NHANES's blood lead distribution in children.

Interpretation
The laboratory is required to report the results of all blood lead tests, regardless of the concentration of lead in the blood, to the State of Wisconsin Dept. of Health and Family Services.  For pediatric lead levels > or = 4 ug/dL, comments will be added to the report based on the CDC guidelines​
