Collection Processing Instructions

Venipuncture is the method of choice for blood lead testing as it is less subject to contamination from the skin surface than capillary collection.

Based on the 97.5th percentile of the NHANES's blood lead distribution in children.​

Interpretation
Submit with a "Blood Lead Reporting Form" (available from Marshfield Labs). The laboratory is required to report the results of all blood lead tests, regardless of the concentration of lead in the blood, to the State of Wisconsin Dept. of Health and Family Services.  For pediatric lead levels > or = 4 ug/dL, comments will be added to the report based on the CDC guidelines.​
