In general, West Nile confirmation testing (WNV) should only occur as a result of a positive WNV IgM screening test (serology).
For WNV serological screen testing ordered and performed at Marshfield Laboratories (WNVAB), confirmatory testing will automatically be performed on samples that test positive for IgM antibodies. Confirmation testing will be performed by the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene. Samples testing positive for IgG antibodies will NOT be routinely forwarded for confirmation.
