Test Information
Parvovirus B19 antibodies, IgG and IgM (PARVO) should be routinely used for the diagnosis of Parvovirus disease. PCR may be considered in immunosuppressed patients, or when the duration of disease is too short to allow antibody development (e.g. transient aplastic crisis).
Reference Range Information
Negative for Parvovirus B19 nucleic acid.
Interpretation
The presence of erythrovirus B19 DNA by PCR indicates infection with this virus.

The absence of erythrovirus B19 DNA by PCR indicates the lack of infection with this virus.
