This assay requires submission of normal tissue (normal colonic mucosa or normal tissue from other sites of the same patient OR patient's peripheral blood sample) for comparison with tumor.
NORMAL CONTROL:
1. 10-20 mL whole blood EDTA Lavender Top Tube (LTT). Refrigerated (preferred).
OR
2. Normal tissue submitted as a Fixed Paraffin Block and marked "Normal Tissue."
TUMOR TISSUE:
1. Fixed Paraffin Block with corresponding H&E. Tissue should be well fixed in formalin. If an alternate fixative is used, note on order. Tissue should average 5 mm (0.2 cm x 0.2 cm x 0.2 cm tissue). Store at room temperature and ship with cold pack.
OR
2. Unstained slides. All slides must be sent within 6 weeks of cutting. For the PCR portion of this test: Precut 7 micron sections from paraffin block. Send 4 slides of tumor and 2-3 slides of normal tissue (if not submitting peripheral blood). Mount on uncoated slides. For the IHC portion of this test: Precut 5 micron sections from paraffin block and mount on charged Poly-L-Lysine coated slides. Minimum of 4 slides per antibody (total of 16 required), plus H&E. Air dry (do not oven dry) and store at room temperature.
