Cross-reactions occur in histoplasmosis, coccidiodomycosis, African histoplasmosis, paracoccidiodomycosis, penicilliosis, and rarely in aspergillosis and sporotrichosis. Negative results do not exclude blastomycosis. Testing of both urine and serum offers the highest sensitivity. Failure of the antigen to rise does not exclude relapse.
