26000 1p19q Deletion in Gliomas, FISH, Tissue (GLIOF)

1p19q Deletion in Gliomas, FISH, Tissue (GLIOF)
Test Code: FGLIOSO
Synonyms/Keywords
p-/19q in Glioma, 1p/19q Deletion Detection, Chromosome Analysis by FISH for 1p/19q Deletion in Gliomas, FISH for 1p/19q Deletion in Gliomas, LOH (Loss of Heterozygosity) 1p/19q in Gliomas, Oligodendroglioma
Useful For
As an aid in diagnosing oligodendroglioma tumors and predicting the response of an oligodendroglioma to therapy.
The test may be useful in tumors with a complex "hybrid" morphology requiring differentiation from pure astrocytomas to support the presence of oligodendroglial differentiation/lineage.

The test is indicated when a diagnosis of olugodendroglioma, both low-grade World Health Organization ([WHO], grade II) and anaplastic ([WHO], grade III) is redndered.  The test also is strongly recommended in mixed oligoastrocytomas.
